EQUIP20 Picks - books chosen and reviewed for you by our EQUIP team

Being a teenager is hard, and being a Christian teen is even harder! Sometimes we underestimate what teens are capable of, but this easily accessible book urges teens to be serious about following Jesus. Growing in Godliness encourages teens to not waste their teen years, but to use them to actively grow to be like Jesus.

The book is broken into three parts. The first outlines the theological foundations for growing in godliness, the second looks at the core tools that God uses (his Word, his people and prayer) and the third looks at some particular pressure points for teens (words and feelings).

I particularly loved the reflection questions at the end of each chapter. They follow an easy-to-use pattern of ask, identify, write and pray to help work out how you are really going, then provide suggestions for how to grow in that area. I really appreciated the encouragement to memorise scripture in each chapter.

This book would be great for a teen who wants to be serious about growing as a Christian. It would be helpful to work through the discussion questions with a friend from youth group or even your youth leader/mum to work out how you might intentionally grow to be like Jesus together.

The EQUIP20 Picks will be available for a limited time online via our ministry partner, Reformers Bookshop.
